1) The 30 May 1994 NEW YORKER has a profile of Louis Begley, international
attorney, novelist (WARTIME LIES, & THE MAN WHO WAS LATE), and current
president of the PEN American Center. Mr. Begley, whose childhood
experiences in war-time Poland underlie his first novel, is contributing
an introduction to a new edition of Nabokov's SPEAK, MEMORY. The profile
concludes with a quote from SPEAK MEMORY. Begley's own prose, while elegantly
limpid, strikes at least one reader as more Conradian than Nabokovian.

2) The current issue of SLAVIC REVIEW (#53,1 Spring 1994, pp. 140-158)
