EDITOR'S NOTE. Roy Johnson <Roy@mantex.demon.co.uk>, who sends the
comment below, is the author of a study of Nabokov's short stories that
ran serially on NABOKV-L throughout late 1994 to 1995. The installments,
one per story, are available in the NABOKV-L Archive.

Sorry to be rather imprecise [short on time at the moment] but I
seem to recall its being in the interviews recorded in STRONG OPINIONS.
It's probably a [typical] VN exaggeration.
Don is quite right - there are "Bachmann" and "Musick" - although
interestingly, neither story actually deals with music as a *subject*.
