Actually, Pessl's Special Topics in Calamity Physics is full of Nabokovian allusions and references. There's a chapter entitled "Laughter in the Dark," the narrator's dad adopts the disguise of John Ray, Jr. and when he deserts his daughter, he takes with him "Maurice Girodias' Olympia Press 1955 two-volume edition of Lolita and Ada or Ardor. One character is called, scornfully, "the Haze woman." And, echoing the previous post, Blue, the narrator, speaks of one who "resembled Poe just enough that thirteen-year-old Catherine decided to be his Virgina forevermore."
