Vladimir Nabokov

Bibliography Guidelines

Bibliographic Title

Put the title of the entry that is being described (article, book, etc) in this field. Do not add quotes unless they are natural part of the title.

Names

Use the Surname, Firstname format for names of authors and editors.

Collection editors

Use the format "Alexandrov, Vladimir E., ed."

In an entry of an edited collection (but not in the entries for individual works in a collection), put the name in both the Author (followed by comma and ed.) and the Collection Editor fields (for better sorting).

Journals

For journal volume and issue numbers, use a complete reference with labels for volume and number, for example "v. 12, no. 2, Cycnos, 1995".

Title

This field near the bottom is not, strictly speaking, part of a bibliographic description. This is the title of this entry's page (where it is shown in all-caps). However, you cannot leave it empty or the page will refuse to save. Please use this format for this field: Author surname, Author firstname (and, if appropriate: comma, ed), period. Title (of article or book), period. Year of publication.

Tasks to do: please help!

  • Remove triplicated tags from the entries you are editing (they're there due to software bug during conversion from an older database).
  • Remove duplicate entries that obviously describe the same work, combining the information into one.
  • Regularize variants of authors' names (such as "Anastas'ev, Nikolai", "Anastas'ev, Nikolai A.", "Anastasiev, Nikolai" or "Alexandrov, Vladimir," "Alexandrov, Vladimir E."): standardize on the fuller name, and use the transliteration according to the website's transliteration system.
